7 Incredibly Easy & Effective Link Building Tactics

by Andi Putra on September 1, 2009

Link building is an integral part of your overall search engine optimization strategy. There have been a lot of articles and tutorials on building back links to your site, and you know what, most of the methods work. The problem is to find those that are compliant with Google rules, but also easy to do. So some of the strategies that needs you to rewrite your articles are not included here. It’s just too troublesome, as your articles  need to be accepted by those high PR sites or you don’t get any back link at all. So, we are now left with only a couple easy and replicable way to build back links and increase traffic. These are the 7 incredibly easy (-seriously-) and effective link building tactics that you could use daily.

1. Forum Posting

forum

Hey this is not easy. I don’t have time. You shouted at me. Trust me, compared to article marketing or other more complicated ones, this is simple. Just register to the forum that’s related to your niche. Modify your signatures so that it contain links to your blog, your latest article, and maybe your opt-in page. Remember to use the keywords you are targeting in the anchor text of your links. Now, start replying to the threads that interest you, or even start your own threads. What we are trying to do here is getting as many back links (with our targeted keywords) as possible from these PR 4-6 forums. Just remember to choose forums that have dofollow links (meaning the links are contributing in increasing your own blog ranking). For internet marketing niche, you could go to: Warrior Forum, Digital Point Forum, Wicked Fire, DN Forum, and many more.

2. Comment on Blogs

comments

There is a fine balance between commenting on blogs and spamming on others’ blogs. Try to give comments that supplement the blog posts and further the discussions. Don’t just give useless comments like, “Thank you. These are great ones.”If you can’t give interesting comments, don’t do it. But if you believe you could, go to blogs that meet any of  these 2 main criteria and start commenting. First, the blog should have the top commentators plug-in, so that you (with your site link) would be ranked in the home page of the blog if you are the top commentators. Second, the blog should allow your latest article title to appear together with your comments. This tactic is ignored by the majority of newbie bloggers when it is actually a very powerful way to get back links from high PR blogs in your niche.

3. Social Bookmark your own articles

stumbleupon

I realized that this strategy has been re-hashed many times by other bloggers or marketers. Why? Because it works! Bookmark your articles using  sites like Digg, Stumble Upon, or other social bookmarking sites. Don’t worry if there is no people digg or stumble your article. That’s not the point. The purpose is to build high quality back links from these high PR (Page Rank) sites. But if you manage to get additional traffic by doing this, that’s good as well.

4. Create a Press Release out of Your Articles

press-release

You could create a press release out of anything. Creating a press release that focused on the keywords that you are targeting would allows you to have high quality back links. This is because press release sites usually have a very high PR.  Just remember to use your targeted anchor text in your press release’s title and links. By treating each posting of your article like a product release, you would gain lots of traffic and popularity. Some free press release websites are: PRLog and Free Press Release.

5. Submit your blog to RSS Directories

feedagg

Submitting your blog to RSS directories, like Feedagg, Feedage, or Feed Raider would allow your blog to get an extra exposure and increase the number of back links from the RSS feeds that you have submitted. You would also get an additional traffic from your keywords because these sites just ranked higher in search engines. What’s more? It’s simple as hell to do. You just need to register and submit your feed. No re-writing or summarizing things up.

6. Convert and Syndicate your articles

scribd

Turn your article into PDF and submit them to sites like Scribd, Esnips, Docstoc, etc. Remember to put your targeted keyword as the title of your PDF upload. And put the links inside your PDF so that the people who reads could click and visit your site/blog. Use Primo PDF to convert your article to PDF. The software is free and converting is as easy as clicking a couple of buttons. The best thing about this strategy is that you don’t have to worry about duplicate contents.

7. Internal Link building

Breadcrumb

Many people are too focused on building back links and forget about the links inside their own blog. Ever heard of those SEO (Search Engine Optimization) experts mentioning about leaking “link juice” in your sites? No? Yes? Don’t worry, we’re here to fix that. Use Breadcrumb navigation to strengthen your link structure, especially if you have lots of pages in your site. You also need to link your related articles to each other, which in the long run would increase your Google rank. If you use Wordpress, there is this plug-in called Breadcrumb NavXT and YARPP (Yet Another Related Post plug-in). These are the easy and effective link building tactics that you could do daily to increase the amount of back links and traffic to your site. Feel free to leave comments below or tweet it if you like it.

I’ve read about using the press release before but i haven’t tried it. Also, I wasn’t sure if it was considered bad form to submit your own article to social bookmarking sites.
