If you watched the Academy Awards yesterday , you’ll agree with me in saying that it’s a shocker. When you thought Avatar, the best selling movie of all time, will win the most prestigious Best Picture award, it lost. I was really disappointed and upset with the result, mostly because I’ve put a huge bet on Avatar (which I’ll never do again), and secondly, because Avatar loses to a movie with a fraction of its budget, Hurt Locker.

So, in this post, I’ll analyse some of the things that Hurt Locker did right to win the Oscar and how you can apply them to your blogging.

1. Designed For Critics

Hurt Locker knows how to position itself in the competitive film market. The director and script writer focused their efforts on getting the best acting (actor’s performance), story progression, and cinematography, elements of a movie that the critics love. And this proven formula seemed to work once again as Hurt Locker wins the Oscar.

So, study your market. You’ve to know who reads your blog (or who you want to read your blog) and what they love, so that you can create contents that are tailored for them. If your audience can relate to your writing, they’ll come back again and again to your blog, despite there are other bigger blogs out there.

2. New Perspective

How many movies have been made about the war in Iraq? Yeah, I can already recall five from the top of my head and I’m sure there’re a whole lot more. And Hurt Locker, is unfortunately one of them. But, unlike other war in Iraq movies that focused on the actions and shootings, Hurt Locker focused on building characters and the relationship between each one of them. It’s an interesting take on such an overused setting.

Sure, blogging and SEO (search engine optimization) have been dissected from almost every imaginable ways. But, some bloggers can still find sub niches within these two huge topics. You can, for example, write about blog designs, pay per click marketing, or social media. Or, rather than doing written posts (like almost every other blogs out there), you might want to publish video or audio posts. People always wants something fresh. So, if you can give it to them, you win.

3. Proud to be Small

Hurt Locker isn’t shy to be a low budget movie. In fact, one of the producers are so proud of it that he sent a letter to the Academy Awards juries, asking them to let Hurt Locker wins because of its miniscule budget.

So, never be ashamed of the size of your blog (ehem…that sure sounds awkward). There are advantages of being a small blog. For instance, you can test new ideas quickly and easily on your blog without the fear of disappointing your loyal readers.

That’s all folks. Remember to always design your contents for your target audience, try to write from new perspective, and always be proud of your blog.

I hope I’ve convinced you of the importance of article marketing by now. There’s no sense of having great contents if nobody will discover and read them. And article marketing do just that. Promote your great contents. But, as effective as it is, many still believe that article marketing is the outdated way of driving traffic online. That’s why you don’t see that many article marketing guide out there anymore, especially if you compared them to social marketing guides that are flourishing recently. So, in this post, I would like to present you with the answers to the top 5 questions many people have when doing article marketing.

1. What’s With the EZine Articles Hype?

Ezine Articles (EZA) is said to be loved by Google a lot more than other article directories. So, if you post your article in EZA, you have higher chance to rank in the top 3 of Google SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages)than, say, when you post in ArticlesBase. But, that claim is just a claim, as nobody can prove that it’s actually more effective to have your article in EZA. Believe it or not, a lot of times the article in other directories actually outrank the one in EZA.

With that said, EZA will probably have a higher authority in Google’s eyes because of two reasons. First, they are more selective in choosing their articles. Thus, they will have higher quality ones. Second, they have more users, which means your articles will have more views and, therefore, traffic. Which also means Google will trust them more.

2. Should I Post My Article in the Directories or My Site First?

My short answer is: It really doesn’t matter. If you write 2 different versions of your original article, one for the directories and one for your site, it doesn’t matter which one you posted first. They are 2 different articles after all, or as long as Google bots are concerned. But, even if you don’t rewrite your article, the sequence of your posting shouldn’t affect anything. Which one of those two articles will rank in the SERPs is totally dependent upon the amount of backlinks you generate for each articles.

3. Do I Really Need to Rewrite My Articles?

It’s good if you do, but you don’t have to. The rumored content duplication penalty, in which you’ll be blacklisted from Google search if you have duplicate content from other sites in your site, is a myth. Google will only penalized you if you have the exact same contents repeated in your site. For example, if you have 50 exact same articles or posts in your site.

But, with that said, there’s a small penalty for having duplicate content from other sites in your site. Your duplicate articles will have lower chance to rank in the search engines. Why? Because, Google will only list one of the exact same content in their SERPs. So, if you have the same content as, say, EZA, Google will choose which one have more authority and list their articles in their SERPs. And, guess what, EZA will win most of the time. In order to avoid this, you need to rewrite your articles for the article directories.

4. Can You Demystify the Author Box for me?

Just remember that Author Box, as much as the name suggest, is not about you. Instead, it’s about your prospects or readers. You want your readers to read your author box and click whatever links you have in there. To do that, you need to think about what their desire and wants and the reason why they’re reading your articles. After you figured that out, create a small product (eBook or video) and give it to them for free through your author box’s link. Remember to have a call to action in there as well. Your author box should look something like this:

Get more traffic tips and strategies by reading my FREE Getting Traffic eBook. You can check it out at my website to Get More Traffic.

5. How do I Promote My Articles in EZine Articles?

You’ll notice at the bottom of each article a section called “Most Viewed” and “Most Published”. However, did you know that there’s an easy way to get your article into these sections for tons of extra exposure and internal back links?

The Most Published section is easier to get into so let’s start with that one. First, you need to grab the EzinePublisher URL for your article. You’ll find this at the top right hand side of the page. Then, start doing social bookmarking (to Digg, Delicious, etc) and social media promotions (Twitter, Friend Feed, etc) on your articles. By doing this, you will increase the views on your Publisher page, allowing you to get into the “Most Published” section. Once your article has been placed in the “Most Published” section, it will be placed on every single article within that particular category. Meaning: Extra exposure and more LINK JUICE.

If you want to get into the “Most Viewed” section, you use the same technique, but this time you will be promoting the URL of the actual article.

These are top 5 of the most puzzling questions that I had been asked so many times regarding article marketing. Feel free to leave comments below or tweet it if you like it.

Internet marketing can be a tough nut to crack. With so much to learn and do, it’s easy for us to get overwhelmed. Not to mention, making money online is not something you can do overnight, which make it harder for us not to get distracted by something else along the way. And even if you get the self-motivation part right, you are still faced with a whole bunch of technical and knowledge barriers, like SEO, PPC, copywriting, and many others. These are the 6 biggest problems face by many internet marketers, including me, and how to solve them.

1. Distractions & Procrastinations

You’re busy. You have these funny and awesome Youtube videos that you need to check out, interesting tweets by your favorite celebrity that you need to read, extremely addictive games in your Facebook account that you need to play, and that super cool gadget blog that you need to check every half an hour or so for updates. Surely, this making money online stuff can wait for tonight, right?

Solution: You and I know we won’t do ‘it’ tonight. We’ll just leave it for tomorrow that night. And even then, we still might not do it. The only way to solve this procrastination is to have a plan and a schedule. Create a diagram of smaller tasks that you need to do everyday. Then, timed yourself with a stopwatch when doing them. Be sure to reward yourself when you successfully do all your daily tasks to keep your motivation up.

2. Getting Backlinks

It’s just so hard to rank high in Google. You’ve tried these social bookmarking things everyone’s talking about. You’ve tried some article marketing. Hell, you’ve even tried some link exchanges. But, you’re still not listed in first page of Google. What happen?!

Solution: Getting backlinks is a long and repetitive task. You can’t expect an instant result from all of your efforts. Try some of these link building tactics. And try not to do these SEO keyword research mistakes that I find myself, and I believe a lot of others, do when optimizing their sites.

3. Information Overload

You bought a $2,000 internet marketing course. You watched all of the tutorial videos and say to yourself, “Well, these are some awesome information. But I need to know more.” So, you bought another similar course. Then, another one to complement the one before. And, you joined the seminars created for those courses. Six months past and you realize that you haven’t do anything with the courses you’ve bought. And worse of all, you don’t know where to start.

Solution: If the above happen to you, you’re infected by what scientists called information paralysis. You’ve the knowledge, but they’re in pieces and you don’t know how to put them together. So, take all of the things you’ve learned and treat them like a jigsaw puzzle that you need to solve. Create a mind map of the actions that you need to take from each chapter of the courses. And start doing them.

4. Impatience

You’re starting to ask yourself, is this whole internet marketing industry’s a scam? Clickbank doesn’t work for you. Blogging doesn’t make you a cent. CPA marketing makes you lose money. And, that product creation and launch just makes you less than a hundred dollars a month. Surely, something is wrong with the industry, right?

Solution: Researchers said multi-tasking makes you dumb. So, concentrate on one single thing at any one time. For example, if you choose blogging as your make money online platform, do it for a couple of months before making a decision if it’s working for you or not. Put all your effort and sweat in those couple of months, though. So, you can at least experience how far can blogging actually takes you.

5. Driving Traffic

You’re wondering what’s the social media for driving traffic fuss is all about? You’ve tried to tweet about the latest post in your blog. But no traffic. You’ve tried some SEO, but your site never ranked in the first page of Google. And, you’ve tried some video marketing, but your video only obtained approximately ten views. Now, you’re desperate, what else can you do to drive traffic to your site?

Solution: If you want to drive a continuous stream of traffic to your site, focus on building your authority. According to Chris Garret, authority is a combination of personality, expertise, and visibility. So, for example to succeed in networking you need to have a friendly personality, be interesting to talk to (expertise?) and it always helps if people have heard of you. And, of course, always make sure you are up on the news and techniques of your niche.

6. Conversion

You’ve got the traffic. You’ve got quite a bit of email and RSS subscribers. Now’s the time for you to shine and make the big money online. So, you write a post in your site, promoting the latest launch of an affiliate product. But to your surprise, there’s only one, out of maybe hundreds of your subscribers, who buy from you. What’s wrong?

Solution: My only advice is, learn copywriting. Whether you like it or not, copywriting is one of those skills that you need in order to sell something, be it antique books or the latest gadgets. Having a knowledge in copywriting allows you to create an attention grabbing headlines, a powerful call to action, and other awesome copywriting tricks.

These are the 6 biggest problems when doing internet marketing and actions you can take to solve them. Feel free to leave comments below or tweet it if you like it.

Before I continue with a deeper and fresher look into keyword density, let me just start by explaining what keyword density is. Keyword density is the percentage of the total number of keywords divided by the total number of words in your article. In the context of search engine optimization, keyword density can be used as a factor in determining whether a web page is relevant to a specified keyword or keyword phrase. It’s also claimed to be one of the important factor that determines the ranking of a site for that specific keywords in SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages).

Keyword Density Formula & Tools

If it’s a bit hard to understand keyword density in words, here’s the simple formula.

Number of keywords/number of words *100

You can calculate this yourself or you can use tools like Traffic Travis (FREE, but only for PC) to calculate it for you. I have explained how to use the keyword density feature of Traffic Travis quite a bit in my seo optimize article post.

What’s the Fuss About?

Just like many SEO information out there, it’s hard to separate the myth from the truth when learning about keyword density. Some experts claimed that you need a keyword density of 3-5% when writing a SEO optimized articles. Others are not fond of that number and believed that 1-2% is more than enough. Higher than that and you’ll be considered spamming. Google, Yahoo, and other search engines do care about user experience. So, if a page looks like it’s optimized for certain keywords, the search engine can tell and might lower your rankings. The problem is, if your keyword density is 1% or less, you might not appear in the first page of SERPs at all.

So, Which One is Right?

None of them. I used to believe in having a high keyword density for my articles. But, when you don’t want to read your own articles after you’ve optimized it, you know you have a problem. How can you expect someone else to read it when you yourself don’t even want to? So, I start going natural (meaning: I don’t really care all that much about keyword density). And it’s then that I discovered this awesome secret.

Keyword Density is some ole bullshit! with a but…

Don’t get me wrong. It’s still important to have your chosen keywords sprinkled throughout your article or post. But, it’s not that big of a deal as people claimed it to be as long as you do this other thing: Having “related” keywords in your articles. Related keywords could be in the form of synonym of the original keywords or different ways to use the original keywords. So, for example, if your original keywords is dog obedience training, your related keywords can be, puppy obedience training, hound obedience training, how to make dog obedient, etc.

Google claimed that you should be able to remove your main keywords from your article and still be able to know what the page is about. So, since Google is the six hundred pounds gorilla, why don’t we ask Google for help in finding the related keywords to help us? Don’t worry it’s quite simple.

Open up Google Keyword Tool. Turn on the Use Synonyms, type in your keywords, and press Get Keyword Ideas. Google will then present you with hundreds different ways to use your keywords, sorted by relevance. This relevancy is determined by Google itself, through their bots and algorithms. So you can see how powerful this is. You basically go inside the Google’s mind and ask what keywords it think is relevant to your original/main keywords. Sprinkled the related keywords that appeared inside the Google Keyword Tool in your articles. And you’re done.

The Conclusion…

Traffic is not everything. Conversion (could mean converting your readers into subscribers of your blog) or sales should be the main focus when writing your articles. So, with this proven related keywords method, you’ll be able to write for your readers (human), and make the search engines bots happy at the same time. Feel free to leave comments below or tweet it if you like it.

Yesterday, I watched the whole Daniel Turner’s outsource method webinar conducted by Mark Ling once more and I’m amazed by how much I can learn from my second viewings of the webinar. In that video, Daniel Turner, an expert in outsourcing, talked about the importance of delegating your tasks through outsourcing and some of the best ways to do it. He then finished with the juiciest part of the webinar, his SEO outsourcing method. You can watch the whole webinar here. Before you watched it though, I need to warn you that this is the longest webinar I’ve ever been in, clocking in at 3.5 hours. So, if you only have half an hour to spare, you better do other things. Like, maybe, reading this post ^-^.

One part of the webinar that really caught my fullest attention is when Daniel talked about KPIs (Key Performance Indicators). KPIs are measurement tool that you use to analyze how effective your outsourcing efforts are. Say, if you’re doing SEO. This can mean how many back links your employee have generated for that month, how many blog comments he have posted, how many articles he have written, etc. If your employee performance is below the acceptable standard, then he should be fired.

This gets me thinking of how I can measure myself using the KPIs that Daniel talked about, to see if I’ve done a good job with this blog. As Daniel said, what gets measured, gets done. So I’ve come out with this list of possible things I can measured my efforts upon.

1. SEO (per month)

Number of social bookmark bookmarking you’ve posted

Number of directory submissions you’ve posted

Number of RSS submissions you’ve posted

Number of article submissions you’ve posted

Number of forum links you’ve posted

Number of DoFollow comments you’ve posted

Number of videos you’ve posted

2. Content Creation (per month)

Number of posts you’ve written

Number of articles you’ve written for article directories and tutorial sites

Number of videos you’ve created

Number of HubPages or Squidoo Lens you’ve created

Number of eBooks You’ve Created

3. Social Media (per month)

Number of tweets you’ve written

Number of followers you’ve gotten

Number of RSS subscribers you’ve gotten

Number of Email Subscribers you’ve gotten

Number of Youtube subscribers you’ve gotten

I’ll start measuring myself starting today, so the first result will probably come out next month. Anyone want to join me? Feel free to leave comments below or tweet it if you like it.

Some experts said you have to look out for your meta keywords, others said that Google bots don’t look at those anymore. Some people said LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) is important, while others dismiss it. The purpose of this post is not to tell you what works and what’s not. Cause I myself can’t claim that I have properly tested any of the theories mentioned above. Instead, what I’ll do here is to tell you 3 stories that you need to remember when doing your website SEO.

1. The Third Pig

Remember the fairytale about the three little pigs and a big bad wolf? In that story, a wolf visited the three little piggy brothers that are living in three different houses. The first pig built his house out of straws, but a wolf blows it down and the pig runs to his brother’s. The second pig built his house out of woods. So, it’s still not strong enough to withstand the wolf’s blow. But, the third pig’s house was built out of bricks. And, guess what, the wolf failed to destroy the house no matter how hard he tried.

So what can you learn from this story?

First, don’t be short-sighed when doing your SEO. You might have a short term ranking gain by doing reciprocal linking or link buying. But, we all know it won’t last long, Google will most likely find out about it and ban you from appearing their search engine ever again. Second, build your site with a solid SEO at its base. If you’re using WordPress, you can install the all-in-one SEO plugin, XML Sitemap, and the Yet Another Related Post plugin to help you. If you’re not, adding simple meta title and description to your site can go a long way in optimizing your blog. To summarize, build your blog as strong as the third pig’s house.

2. The Ant Factor

Ants are social insects. The worker ants work together, gathering food back to their colony for colder days. They walk very slowly and they can only carry a very small piece at once. But they work every day, repeating the same motion over and over again, following the same path to their nest. Until one day, when the winter come, they’re able to survive it without having to do anything anymore.

So what can you learn from this story?

SEO doesn’t offer instant result. If you want to have that, choose other traffic methods, like PPC (Pay Per Click) marketing or video marketing. Instead, SEO works by consistently doing small simple things everyday. Some on-page optimization here, some link building there. Rinse-and-repeat. Until one day, your site rank on one of the top three spots in Google and you get tons of traffic without having to do anything anymore. But, just like the ants need to gather food again for the next winter, you have to repeat the same motion again for your next post.

3. The Wisdom of Crowds

A excerpt of James Surowiecki’s book, The Wisdom of Crowds.

In 1906, Francis Galton, known for his work on statistics and heredity, came across a weight-judging contest at the West of England Fat Stock and Poultry Exhibition. This encounter was to challenge the foundations of his life’s study.

An ox was on display and for six-pence fair-goers could buy a stamped and numbered ticket, fill in their names and their guesses of the animal’s weight after it had been slaughtered and dressed. The best guess received a prize.

Eight hundred people tried their luck. They were diverse. Many had no knowledge of livestock; others were butchers and farmers. In Galton’s mind this was a perfect analogy for democracy. He wanted to prove the average voter was capable of very little. Yet to his surprise, when he averaged the guesses, the total came to 1197 pounds. After the ox had been slaughtered, it weighted 1198.

So what can you learn from his story?

Don’t be a smartass. Ask people what they want, what they’re looking for, and how they look for it. People are smart. So, use Google Keyword Research Tool to find out how the people in your market search for products, like what type of keywords they’re using. Go to forums to find out what problems your market are currently facing and some possible keywords. And, use social media sites, like Twitter, and other blogs in your niche to see what’s currently hot in your market and where it’s heading.

These are the three stories that represent the three aspects of search engine optimization; they are keyword research, on-page optimization, and back linking. I hope that this post has been helpful. Feel free to leave comments below or tweet it if you like it.

SEO Keyword research is one of those things that we believe we know how to do when we actually don’t. I thought keyword research is all about finding keywords that have a high monthly search volume and low competing pages. But, I was wrong. Yes, finding long tail keywords or phrases, those with 3 words or more, and high monthly search volume do work. You want them so that you get your work displayed in the search engines for those specific keywords. Be it for your blog or site. The problem is, many people, including me, make a mistake by believing that’s all to it to keyword research, when it’s not. So, what’s wrong with your seo keyword research? Read on.

1. Ignoring Exact Phrase Search

Many people just type in their keywords into Google Search and Google Keyword Tool when doing seo keyword research. It works fine on a certain level. The problem is, it doesn’t give you an accurate result. So, what you need to do is typing in your long tail keywords under quotation marks. For example, “dog training”. When you type in the word dog training into Google search (with no quotation marks), Google might tell you that the keywords have 12 million competing pages. But, when you type in “dog training”, you might discover that Google only show 1 million competing pages. This is because when you’re not using quotation marks, Google is displaying sites that are using related terms, synonyms, etc. Those are fake competition.

You have to do the same when you’re doing your seo keyword research inside Google Keyword Tool. Change the Match Type of your keywords to Exact. This will reveal the actual monthly search number you can expect from that specific keywords.

2. Not Measuring the Strength of Competition

The number of competitors in Google search is not the only thing we need to worry about. There’s another factor called the strength of competition. The strength of the competition is measured by many factors. This include Page Rank (PR), page reputation, the site authority, the number of incoming links, the page rank of those incoming links, the keyword density (relevance of contents), and other factors. If the strength of the competition is low, it’s easy for you to get the top spots in Google, even if there are a lot of competing pages.

So, how do you go about measuring the strength of your competitors? I, myself, use Keyword Elite 2.0 and Traffic Travis to help me. But if you’re a Mac user or don’t want to install any of the two software, use SEO Quake, a Firefox add-on. Using SEO Quake, you can see the Page Rank of a site, keyword density, and the number of incoming links (look at the Yahoo version (Y!L), not Google) to the site. If you think you can beat them, go for it.

3. Being Too Greedy

Getting all your keywords to the top of Google SERPs is fantastic. But, let’s just start with one, shall we? Many people are spreading their keyword optimization and link building efforts into many different keywords in many different pages in their site. This might’ve worked in a very low competition niches, which usually means they’re not that profitable as well. But in the highly competitive niche, like internet marketing or technology, you can’t do that. There are too many competitors who have the skill and knowledge to rank high in Google. The only way to beat them is by, contrary to popular belief, putting all your eggs in one basket. Keep generating back links into the keywords in one of your pages until you rank up high. One keyword on the first spot is better than 10 keywords ranking on the 2nd page of Google search.

4. Choosing Keywords with No Commercial Value

What’s the most profitable keywords in the internet marketing niche? If you say, make money online, you’re wrong. That keyword has a high search volume but it doesn’t convert. You’ll only get, what I call, eyeball traffic. Depending on how you’re trying to make money online, eyeball traffic can be totally useless to you. If you’re focusing on Adsense and maybe PPM (pay per mille/thousands) ads, it’s good to have eyeball traffic. But if you’re trying to make money off affiliate income, focusing your effort on keywords like make money online is ineffective and time-wasting.

First, it’s tough to get the top ranking because every internet marketers and bloggers wants that keywords, usually for some egoistic reason (See I’m no.1 for that tough keywords!). Second, it’s a non converting keyword. Meaning, your visitors who visit your site using that keyword won’t usually buy from you. So, instead, of choosing the eyeball traffic keywords, find keywords that are problem solution or product names types. For example, keyword elite 2.0 review (a product name), how to get more traffic (a problem solution), etc. To help you find keywords with commercial value, try Microsoft OCI.

These are some mistakes that I have made when doing seo keyword research. If you realize that you’re still making any one of them, it’s time to stop and change your approach to keyword research. Feel free to comment or tweet it if you like it.

In my previous post, 7 Incredibly Easy & Effective Link Building Tactics, I mentioned that one of the ways to build back links to our site is by doing blog commenting. But, like any other internet marketing stuff, it’s just not that simple. We need to first research which blogs are actually capable of sending us their link juice. Not all blogs are created equal, especially when we’re trying to build our back links. Some blogs have a high PR (Page Rank), which means they’re trusted by Google and thus have higher quality back links. But a lot of these so-called authority blogs also use no-follow tags in their blog comments section, making their links totally useless for SEO purposes. The ultimate goal here is to find high PR blogs with dofollow comments section. This is the guide on how to find dofollow blogs.

1. Use Free Tools

Do-Follow Diver is a database of blogs that contains no no-follow tags in their site. They also list blogs that have Comment Luv or Top Commenter plug-in installed because these two plug-ins are usually dofollow. Just type in the keywords that describe your topic into the Do-Follow Diver search engine and it’ll list all dofollow blogs using the keywords. Using Firefox add-ons like SEO Quake, check the PR (Page Rank) and other necessary stats of blogs that appear in the list. If it’s all good, start commenting in them.

You can also try Comment Kahuna to find high PR sites that are do-follow. Comment Kahuna lets you choose different search types, from CommentLuv search to Article Feeder one. They even have a list of dofollow blogs in the Blog Network section of the software.

2. Utilize Google Search Query

Light headed after hearing the word query? Don’t worry, we’ll just use simple ones. Google is a gold mine when it comes to finding high PR dofollow blogs. I learn this from one of the Warrior forum members. Basically, what you’re trying to do here is to find blogs with either Comment Luv or Top Commenter plug-in because around 75% of the blogs are still do-follow. This method is useful to find blogs that are not listed in the Do-Follow Diver search result page. Remember to use broad keywords, like scrapbooking, blogging, or others.

For Comment Luv

Search Phrase: niche keywords “Enable CommentLuv” + niche keywords

For Top Commenter

Search Phrase: niche keywords + “Top Commenters”
Search Phrase: niche keywords + “Top Commenter”

3. Install Firefox Add-Ons

Firefox is an indispensable browser for internet marketers, like us. It just make the task that we used to perform manually so much more automated and integrated. Activate the NoDoFollow Firefox add-on and visit the blogs that Google listed in their search engine after you search for your keywords. This plugin will then highlight links in a page according to their nofollow/dofollow status. Combine the NoDoFollow result with SEO Quake, which I mentioned above, to choose the blogs with high PR rank and start commenting in there. SEO Quake also allows you to see the sources of back links of a particular site. You never know, but you might find some gold traffic sources just by browsing through it.

These are the 3 proven ways to find dofollow blogs that you can use to build back links to your site. Just remember not to spam those blogs. Instead, read their posts, then write useful comments that compliment their writing. Fell free to leave comments or tweet it if you like it.

Hey, we’ve all been there. We’re excited when we finished building our site. If we’re making a blog, we have spent weeks or even months to design our logo and sidebars to perfection, now it’s time to sit back and relax, right? Right? Oh wait, we still need to write articles for it, preferably good ones. Maybe some podcasts and videos as well. And we need to drive traffic for it…We know how to do search engine optimization and link building so we thought it shouldn’t be a problem. Until we actually do it. Those two methods work but they are just too slow at driving enough traffic to motivate us in the beginning of our internet venture. So, what could we do? First, calm down. Second, read this post for the best ways to get lots of traffic to your brand new site.

1. Pay Per Click Advertising

You might be disappointed that the first one on this list is not free or new. You might’ve heard it hundreds of times before from other bloggers or internet marketing gurus. But, whether you like it or not, paid advertising is by far the best way to drive traffic to your brand new site fast. And if you do it properly, you’ll earn more (much more in the long term) than you spend. The key is to calculate the lifetime value of your visitors. This is easier to do if you have a blog with thousands of visitors a week as you can based it on the past conversions and sales. If you’re just starting up, however, using $1 value per visitors seems reasonable. I calculated this based on 1% conversion rate on a $100 product or two $50 products and so on. So, as long as the money you spend on pay per click campaigns to acquire the visitors is less than the the lifetime value of your visitors, you’ll make a profit.

There are lots of venues that you can spend your hard-earned money on when you do PPC ^-^. The six-hundred pounds gorilla, Google, with its Adwords, is the weapon of choice for many internet marketers. But the recent Quality Score issue, has caused many of them looking for other options. Yahoo! and Bing paid advertisings, the social media advertising (Facebook and MySpace), and media buying are all there for you to choose. The choice is yours.

2. Twitter Promotion

When people say you can use Twitter to earn money, I don’t believe them. I mean, Twitter is good for building relationship with your readers or subscribers, but it’s not an effective selling tool. But, Richard, one of my internet marketing friends, tell me that I totally misunderstood the selling tool part of Twitter. You have to treat Twitter as an indirect selling tool, rather than direct one. First, you build your Twitter followers with the help of Social Omph. Social Omph allows you to schedule your tweets and have an automated direct message to your new followers. Give something to your new followers for free by sending them into your squeeze page. Now you have a list that you can direct anytime to your site or blog.

Additionally, use Twitter Poster plugin if you’re using WordPress as it automatically tweets the latest post in your blog. Depending on your niche, how you phrase your post titles and when you make your posts, it can help you get 100-300 unique visitors a day. You can do it manually as well. Go for heavy traffic times like lunch, late afternoon and early evening US time. Always use tinyurl’s for you links and make your titles compelling. Don’t spam. Good rule of thumb is one ref post for every 4-5 normal posts.

3. Guest Posting

Guest posting is not the easiest one to do, but it’s free and is proven to work. Find the authority sites in your niche with Google Search by typing in the broadest keyword that define your niche, for example “blogging”. Be an active commentators on the blogs for maybe a week or two, then contact the owners and ask if they’re interested in accepting your guest post that contains link back to your site. If they agree, you are now set to receive tons of traffic. To get even more traffic using this trick, promote your guest post by doing some social bookmarking and article marketing so that it ranks higher in search engine. It’s easy for an authority blogs to rank high for any terms, so might as well use it to your advantage.

4. CPM Mail Drop

This is the method that Frank Kern mentioned in his List Building video before he launched Mass Control last time. What’s CPM Mail Drop? CPM Mail Drop refers to email list brokers. They can rent you a list at a cost per thousands views. You can find these brokers by going to the SRDS site. You have a choice between opt-in lists and compiled lists, which are less targeted. The thing to remember is not to send the visitors to your blog. Instead, send them to your squeeze page and offer them something for free in exchange for their opt-ins to your list. Now you have your own list that you can use to drive traffic to your site or sell products to. The broker will usually provide you with a report regarding the number and % delivered, the number and %opened, the number and %read, and other data.

These are the best ways to drive traffic to your brand new site. Start applying them to have traffic pouring in to your blog(s) fast. Feel free to leave comments or tweet it if you like it.

In my previous post, 6 Clever Keywords Optimization Tricks Worth Knowing, I asked you to build your broad keywords list first before finding the low hanging fruits (deep keywords). Broad keywords, as I’ve mentioned in my previous post, are keywords that are lateral and related to your root keywords. They could be in the form of synonyms the different ways of saying the root keywords. Building a broad keywords list first is important because of 2 reasons. Firstly, you have a better chance to compete. Most of the typical root keywords usually have too many competitors fighting for the same piece of pie, like “spyware” keyword for example. So, we need to find others that are used less. Secondly, you won’t miss out on possible traffic sources from those keywords you’re not optimizing for. These are the 7 ways to build your broad keywords list.

1. Browse Forums

Finding broad keywords in forums is tiring. You have to browse the forum threads one by one to find keywords to be added to your list. And there are hundreds or even thousands of threads in one forum. It’s definitely not the easiest way to find broad keywords, but it’s by far the best way to find a higher quality ones. Each of us have different ways of saying the same thing, call it our own personal preferences. We use different words, punctuations and sentence structures, and in forums you can find all those variations. Who knows, you might just stumble upon a huge pile of golden keywords in one of those threads.

2. Use Thesaurus

There was a time when I hated my English language teacher, and I think she despised me too. But, I can’t argue that without her I won’t be writing this post today. One of the advices she gave to my class a long time ago is using the old and crumpled Thesaurus from the school library to vary the words we used in our writings. Since, Thesaurus is available online now, I guess we won’t be needing that smelly Thesaurus from my school’s library ever again. My search for the word “dog” in Thesaurus, gave me a lot of other possible keywords I can use like, puppy, canine, hound, mutt, pup, pooch, etc. So, now instead of having the only root keyword “dog problem” and its variations, I could have “puppy problem” and its variations, “canine problem” and its variations, and others.

3. Use Google Keyword Tool

First, I put a very broad keywords like “dog training” into Google Search to find the authority sites in my niche. Then, to find broad keywords, I use Google Keyword Tool. I switch the search method from Descriptive words or phrases to Website content. After that, I put the URL address of those sites to Google Keyword Tool. Google will then list the keywords they think the site is ranking for. And best of all, it groups those keywords into separate root keywords’ groups. You use those root keywords later to find the long tail of searches.

4. Use Google Wonder Wheel

You can find some hidden broad keywords gems with Google Wonder Wheel. I searched for the term “make money blogging” and it come out with start blog make money, blog topics make money, and a couple of others. I love how it doesn’t use my root keyword in its exact form. Instead, Wonder Wheel tinker and change it. These new keywords could then be added to my broad keywords list. And, can be used later for deep keyword research.

5. Use Keyword Elite 2.0

You might thought this is some sort of affiliate promotion. Yeah, ok, I admit, the link for Keyword Elite 2.0 here is an affiliate link. But I don’t just put this in to earn some extra cash from you guys. One feature I like the most about Keyword Elite 2.0 is doing the Keyword Surge using Keyword Elite Engine. If you do this, Keyword Elite will present you with keywords that are similar to Google Keyword Tool’s with the synonym function turns on, but with more results and varieties. So, if you search for dog training, it’s highly possible that the results might contain puppy training or hound training. It also groups those keywords based on the root keywords. So it’s easy to do some deep keyword research later on.

6. Visit Other Blogs

It depends how much you love the niche you’re now in, you might find browsing and reading the blogs in your niche is boring and time-wasting. But you can find some nice broad keywords in the post or comments section of good blogs.

7. Come Up with Them Yourself

You might already have ideas of what possible broad keywords you can use, especially if you know the niche very well. If you don’t, you can brainstorm by talking to your friend(s) via MSN about that particular topic, like what I usually do. But, first, you and your friend need to know the niche well. I mean, if you already have possible keywords in your mind why not use them by putting them into your list? You can always sort them out later if it’s too common and competitive.

These are some effective ways to build your broad keywords list. Use these strategies well and you’ll never run out of keywords to use and optimized for. Feel free to leave comments below or tweet it if you like it.
