I hope I’ve convinced you of the importance of article marketing by now. There’s no sense of having great contents if nobody will discover and read them. And article marketing do just that. Promote your great contents. But, as effective as it is, many still believe that article marketing is the outdated way of driving traffic online. That’s why you don’t see that many article marketing guide out there anymore, especially if you compared them to social marketing guides that are flourishing recently. So, in this post, I would like to present you with the answers to the top 5 questions many people have when doing article marketing.
1. What’s With the EZine Articles Hype?

Ezine Articles (EZA) is said to be loved by Google a lot more than other article directories. So, if you post your article in EZA, you have higher chance to rank in the top 3 of Google SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages)than, say, when you post in ArticlesBase. But, that claim is just a claim, as nobody can prove that it’s actually more effective to have your article in EZA. Believe it or not, a lot of times the article in other directories actually outrank the one in EZA.
With that said, EZA will probably have a higher authority in Google’s eyes because of two reasons. First, they are more selective in choosing their articles. Thus, they will have higher quality ones. Second, they have more users, which means your articles will have more views and, therefore, traffic. Which also means Google will trust them more.
2. Should I Post My Article in the Directories or My Site First?

My short answer is: It really doesn’t matter. If you write 2 different versions of your original article, one for the directories and one for your site, it doesn’t matter which one you posted first. They are 2 different articles after all, or as long as Google bots are concerned. But, even if you don’t rewrite your article, the sequence of your posting shouldn’t affect anything. Which one of those two articles will rank in the SERPs is totally dependent upon the amount of backlinks you generate for each articles.
3. Do I Really Need to Rewrite My Articles?

It’s good if you do, but you don’t have to. The rumored content duplication penalty, in which you’ll be blacklisted from Google search if you have duplicate content from other sites in your site, is a myth. Google will only penalized you if you have the exact same contents repeated in your site. For example, if you have 50 exact same articles or posts in your site.
But, with that said, there’s a small penalty for having duplicate content from other sites in your site. Your duplicate articles will have lower chance to rank in the search engines. Why? Because, Google will only list one of the exact same content in their SERPs. So, if you have the same content as, say, EZA, Google will choose which one have more authority and list their articles in their SERPs. And, guess what, EZA will win most of the time. In order to avoid this, you need to rewrite your articles for the article directories.
4. Can You Demystify the Author Box for me?

Just remember that Author Box, as much as the name suggest, is not about you. Instead, it’s about your prospects or readers. You want your readers to read your author box and click whatever links you have in there. To do that, you need to think about what their desire and wants and the reason why they’re reading your articles. After you figured that out, create a small product (eBook or video) and give it to them for free through your author box’s link. Remember to have a call to action in there as well. Your author box should look something like this:

5. How do I Promote My Articles in EZine Articles?

You’ll notice at the bottom of each article a section called “Most Viewed” and “Most Published”. However, did you know that there’s an easy way to get your article into these sections for tons of extra exposure and internal back links?
The Most Published section is easier to get into so let’s start with that one. First, you need to grab the EzinePublisher URL for your article. You’ll find this at the top right hand side of the page. Then, start doing social bookmarking (to Digg, Delicious, etc) and social media promotions (Twitter, Friend Feed, etc) on your articles. By doing this, you will increase the views on your Publisher page, allowing you to get into the “Most Published” section. Once your article has been placed in the “Most Published” section, it will be placed on every single article within that particular category. Meaning: Extra exposure and more LINK JUICE.
If you want to get into the “Most Viewed” section, you use the same technique, but this time you will be promoting the URL of the actual article.
